MSC Proposes Using Cruise Ships to Evacuate Seafarers from Persian Gulf
MSC Cruises is pushing the idea that the six cruise ships stuck in the Persian Gulf could be used to move thousands of seafarers to safety that are stranded on the commercial ships in the area.
Speaking in Miami Beach on Tuesday morning, MSC Group’s Cruise Division’s Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago said the situation was fluid.
“The reality is we have ships stuck in the Gulf for the time being. We are talking to the IMO (International Maritime Organization) because there are a lot of seafarers that can be moved out of the Gulf on these (cruise ships),” he said.
